Royal Gifts on a Pauper’s Budget - How to Give Great Gifts When You Are Strapped For Cash
I have a secret. I like to give inexpensive gifts. It’s not that I’m cheap, it’s just that with holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and just because days; gift giving can get expensive.
I’m not crafty so handmade gifts are out of the question, maybe you are the same way. Here are some tips for giving royal gifts when you are on a pauper’s budget.
1) Shop online and use coupon codes. In general, anything you want to buy, you can find online, and usually cheaper than in your local store. As an added bonus, use a coupon code to either knock the price down or eliminate the shipping cost. However, not every store offers coupon codes but a lot do so it’s worth it to take the extra two minutes to look for one.
2) Sign up for your favorite store’s newsletter. Yes, we all get too much email but signing up for online mailing lists is worth it. You’ll have first dibs on sales, and you might even get tuned into a product that you otherwise would not have come across.
If the idea of giving out your email address freaks you out then get a free email account that you only use for mailing lists. Just make sure you actually log into it and read the emails.
3) Buy off season. When is the best time to buy cute teddy bears, romantic cards and items with thought sayings; the day after Valentines Day of course. When can you find awesome summer gear for great prices? Here’s a hint, it’s not in May, June, or July. And though you might be broke come December 26th, the days after Christmas are a great time to stock up on gifts you’ll need for the rest of the year.
4) Make a dollar gift basket. No, you won’t find a gift basket for a dollar but the dollar store is a great place to find cute gift baskets and little trinkets. Take $10 with you and you can create you own gift package. Note: Creativity is Required
5) Search for freebies. This is my biggest secret and now the cat is out of the bag. “Buy 1 Get 1 Free”, “Free with Shipping”, and “Free Sample” are all words that catch my eye. If you pay close attention you can get cool gifts for free. I’ve given away so many gifts that either I didn’t have to pay for or that I only paid for the shipping costs. No one has ever known the difference…until now of course.
